Jurgen Klopp Gives Ruben Amorim Advice on the Manchester United Job
Erik ten Hag was let go by Manchester United after a bad start to the season that put them 14th in the Premier League table.
It is likely that Ruben Amorim, the coach of Sporting Lisbon, will take over at Old Trafford after Ten Hag.
To build his own team, Nicol thinks that Amorim will have to do what Klopp did and let go of 90% of the Red Devils players. He believes that the Portuguese manager will have to show a lot of heart to do this.
Also, he said that Amorim must be able to see Manchester United’s progress even if they don’t win any awards at first. He said that Amorim will need the support of the club’s leaders to be successful.
“He has to have really strong character because this is going to take time and after seeing that team, I think 90% of them are going to have to move on,” Nicol told ESPN.
“But he needs to do something like what Klopp did.”
As you watched them, you could tell something was going to happen. He had to move everyone on, which he did, but it took a while. It was getting better; you could tell.
The players were making great progress, even though they weren’t winning games.
They said, “He’ll be fine as long as he can get his team to do that. But if he can’t and doesn’t have the character to deal with things not going well at United, then nothing will change.”
“This is obviously going to be very important: he needs to have the support and the people to join.”
“He’ll do well and move forward if they hire the right people.”
Along with Arne Slot, Liverpool considered Amorim as a possible replacement for Klopp.
Now that a deal has been made with Sporting Lisbon, Amorim should be in charge of Manchester United by the end of November.
