In 2018, JK Scott made his first NFL pass. Scott got his first official finish on Sunday.

The ex-Alabama punter caught his first NFL pass on Sunday, when the Los Angeles Chargers beat the Atlanta Falcons 17–13.

It was fourth down and four for the Chargers at the Los Angeles 36-yard line on the third play of the fourth quarter. Scott threw to tight end Stone Smartt from punt formation. Smartt went around the right end, but was stopped one yard short of the gain line.

With 14:04 left, the Falcons took over at the Chargers’ 39-yard line, but they were already behind by four points. Even though the fake didn’t gain the yards needed, it didn’t hurt Los Angeles because safety Marcus Maye picked off Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins in the end zone, stopping the danger.

Scott threw his first NFL pass in his third game, on September 23, 2018.

Scott got a bad snap as the holder on the last play of the first half, when the Green Bay Packers were trying to kick a 60-yard field goal and were behind the Washington Redskins 28–10. He caught the football and tried to flip it to kicker Mason Crosby, but the pass didn’t go through.

Scott did make a pass, but it doesn’t show up in his official NFL stats. In a playoff game on January 16, 2021, against the Los Angeles Rams, Scott missed an extra point and had to hustle to get the ball to Crosby, who was surrounded in the backfield.

Scott kicked the ball three times against the Falcons on Sunday. He punched the ball 48 yards and it was fair caught at the Atlanta 11-yard line. The kickoff was returned 46 yards for a touchdown and it went to the Atlanta 31. On the return, it went 14 yards to the Atlanta 25 but was moved back to the Falcons 6 because of a penalty.

On Sunday, Scott also stopped three field goals.
