Ja Morant’s ELECTRIFYING Message: Grizzlies’ Star Drops Knowledge at Media Day – What’s Next for 2025-26?

During the NBA offseason, Ja Morant went to China for a while. How much did he pick up? “That I don’t only have motion where my feet at,” remarked the man. “It’s global.”

Just one day before the start of training camp in Nashville, Morant gave a speech at Grizzlies media day on September 29. While previewing the 2025–26 season for the Grizzlies, Morant didn’t say much.

He responded positively when questioned about the system used by new coach Tuomas Iisalo. His response, when pressed for further details, was simply, “It fits me.” Morant had a rough go of it last season due to a slew of injuries.

Despite a promising start to the season, the Grizzlies eventually struggled and let coach Taylor Jenkins go with nine games left on the schedule.

In Game 3 of the playoff series between the Grizzlies and the eventual NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, the Grizzlies held a double-digit lead.

However, Morant was sidelined for the remainder of the game after being undercut by Lu Dort on a dunk attempt.

In the end, it was a 4-0 sweep for the Thunder. “That’s nothing more than that,” Morant stated. At the moment, all I can think about is committing myself to this season and keeping my eye on the prize. Just do what I say and get out there.

Additionally, a lot has changed since that playoff series. In addition to acquiring Cedric Coward in the first round of the draft and trading Desmond Bane, Memphis also signed a slew of free agents.

With a new roster in place and dealing with injuries to Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey, and Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies’ expectations are sure to be all over the map.

Also, questions concerning Morant’s legacy were posed. “Number one, for me, my goal is to win,” stated the athlete.

Bringing home a championship here is, of course, a huge accomplishment. To me, though, it goes beyond that.

Most importantly, off the court. Playing my best game, both on and off the court, for the sake of my hometown.
