Everton
It is clear what Beto has been doing on the Everton training ground as an emotional reaction to Fulham’s goal.
As Sean Dyche pointed out, Beto’s rough style could be an advantage if used in the right way. This season, the forward hasn’t had much playing time, which has led to rumors that he might go back to Serie A in January, only 18 months after leaving Udinese for Everton.
Because of this, his equalizer in stoppage time against Fulham made the attacker very emotional, and he later talked about his fight for more playing time.
He can now make a stronger case for more opportunities, and the goal could lead to him being more involved in Dyche’s plans.
People said after his important goal in front of the Gwladys Street that he may not have had much time on the field, but that he had worked hard on the training ground.
This is what Dyche said after the game: “He has been working hard.” He’s been working hard in training, and so has the staff, who deserve credit for going the extra mile, working on bits, and people like me showing him clips and other things.
With that work, Everton beat Fulham and went five league games without losing. Nevertheless, Dyche insisted that he needed to keep working at Finch Farm if he wanted to compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is the manager’s favorite striker.
He didn’t start playing professionally until not long ago, and Dyche said, “His development curve has been a delayed one. Coming into the Premier League is different; it is hard, especially as a striker, and I think he continues to work hard and he has gotten his reward.”
Beto is still working on improving his skills, but Dyche said that the forward’s ability to make defenses uncomfortable, like he did to Calvin Bassey and Issa Diop after they had a pretty easy game over the weekend, could be a benefit for him.
Asking what Beto should do to get more playing time, he replied, “I tell him you don’t have to be pure but you have to be a handful and awkward; that’s a real weapon, and I thought he was when he came on; you have to find different ways to affect the opposition, and he certainly did.”
