Injury news for Everton: defender steps up comeback, and other things seen in training

Everybody is taking a break this week, but there has still been a lot going on at Everton’s Finch Farm training site. Jordan Pickford of England and Orel Mangala of Belgium both left with their teams to play in the UEFA Nations League. Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye of Senegal are on Africa Cup of Nations qualifying duty with Beto, who has been called up to the Equatorial Guinea squad for the first time.

Sean Dyche, the manager of Chelsea, had a fun night out in London’s Mayfair district on Monday. He went to the Nordoff Robbins’ Legends of Football event at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel, which honored Wayne Rooney and Fara Williams, two former Everton players. David Moyes, Trevor Steven, and Theo Walcott were also there. The event included a drinks reception and a three-course dinner before speeches and the awards ceremony.

But he had to go back to work at Halewood the next day to test the rest of his team.

Sean Dyche hints at Oasis when he says Everton need a manager instead of a head coach.

The agent for Beto says that Everton’s pay are a “problem” because the player wants to return to Italy.

Captain Seamus Coleman was seen running with a training staff member. During his press conference before the game against Newcastle United, Dyche said Coleman was “touch and go” for the game at Aston Villa, which was the first game since he was substituted for the Republic of Ireland against England on September 7. He also said the player would be out for “a bit longer,” but not for too long. “We’d be hopeful that he gets closer during this international period,” he added.

At the same time, Nathan Patterson, who hasn’t played for the first team yet this season, was playing with his teammates and was seen challenging Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Before the Magpies’ visit, Dyche talked about Patto’s return and said, “Patto is more common sense now.” His training is ongoing, but he needs a game plan after being out for about six months. This is going to take a little longer, but he’s making good progress and training daily, so far so good.

Here are some more things that were seen during the lesson…

Even though Everton is working at Finch Farm, Seamus Coleman goes for a run.

As goalie George Pickford watches, Abdoulaye Doucoure goes after Nathan Patterson for the ball.

The guys did a drill where they had to throw footballs, and James Tarkowski looks like he’s really getting into it.

Danish player Jesper Lindstrom and Irish player Jake O’Brien will both be looking to be called up by the next international break after moving to Everton in the summer.

After his plea against Newcastle United was turned down, Dominic Calvert-Lewin said he didn’t know what he needed to do to get a penalty. He keeps his eye on the ball.

After a great game against Newcastle United, Michael Keane is beaming with pride. He helped Everton keep their first clean sheet of the season.

The ball was in Sean Dyche’s hands during an Everton practice at Finch Farm.
