In the most recent ESPN Bracketology, Kentucky is a 1 seed.
The Kentucky Wildcats have had a great start to the season. Up to this point, Mark Pope’s team has one of the best records in the sport. They are 10-1 and have beat Duke, Gonzaga, and Louisville.
That’s becoming clear in the early brackets, where the Cats are getting some love.
Joe Lunardi of ESPN moved Kentucky up to the number one spot in the bracket. Tennessee and Auburn, two other SEC teams, have joined them. These are Lunardi’s top seeds: the Tigers. Even crazier, 13 SEC teams are making it to the big dance.
The Wildcats’ road would be interesting because they might play Gonzaga again in the second round.
Not okay with that? What about a game against third-seeded Kansas?
A possible matchup with 9th-seeded Arkansas in the Round of 32 might be the most interesting plot of all. In no doubt, that would make the numbers go up.
The Wildcats already have a great record, and they have the chance to add some more important wins. On the other hand, they don’t have many chances to lose badly.
League play should be fun for a few months.
Let’s go Cats!
