In January, Antony will be able to leave Manchester United.

Manchester United lost 14 first-team players this summer, but it looks like they’re not done yet.

Some players who were sold or let go were Scott McTominay, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Willy Kambwala, Hannibal, Facu Pellistri, Alvaro Carreras, Donny van de Beek, Omari Forson, and Brandon Williams. Sofyan Amrabat went back to Fiorentina after his loan, and Jadon Sancho went on loan to Chelsea with an obligation to buy.

There have been rumors lately that Manchester United will also try to get Harry Maguire and Casemiro in January. Now we can add another player to that list.

According to CaughtOffside, “United have decided to let Antony go in the upcoming January transfer window.” The Brazilian winger is being tracked by Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and his old team, Ajax.

Casemiro’s huge £350,000-a-week salary makes it hard to get rid of him, and Antony will be the same way.

He makes £200,000 a week, which is more than most clubs can afford. Right now, United would lose a lot of the €95 million they paid Ajax for him in 2022.

“A loan seems more likely than a sale for now,” says CaughtOffside. “United know that clubs might not be willing to come straight in with a permanent offer for the player after his poor form and lack of regular minutes in recent times.”

The news source thinks that going back to Ajax to get in shape might be the best choice. However, both Newcastle and Crystal Palace are interested because they want to improve their attack, which leaves the door open for him to stay in the Premier League.

Antony is possibly one of the less important players on Erik ten Hag’s slim squad because Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad Diallo can all play on both wings. What if one of those three gets hurt, though? Sancho, Greenwood, Pellistri, and Forson are already out, so there isn’t much cover.
