Manchester United
“I’m a celebrity for Manchester United, and I know who fired Erik ten Hag.”
Lee Sharpe says that Erik ten Hag’s deal with Manchester United was finally taken away because his team wasn’t scoring enough goals.
After a summer in which £200 million was spent on new players and the club had its worst-ever Premier League finish, Ten Hag’s time at Old Trafford ended on Monday. The team had already experienced a number of setbacks in the early stages of the new season. And since then, Ruben Amorim has been named as the favorite to take over.
Part of that huge amount of money was spent on forward Joshua Zirkzee, who is struggling and cost £36.5 million. During the Dutchman’s time in charge, players like Antony and Mason Mount also came for big fees but have not impressed at all.
Sharpe, who won three league titles with United, thinks that the new players that have been brought in over the past couple of years have not been scoring enough goals, which is what led to the boss being fired.
Sharpe told BestBettingSites.com, “I definitely think that Manchester United’s wastefulness has cost them too many games this season and, in the end, it’s cost Erik Ten Hag his job.”
“This season, United has dominated teams for 20 to 25 minutes at a time, and they look like they can give anyone a game during those times.”
Even though most of United’s forwards haven’t played very well, Marcus Rashford, who scored 30 goals in all competitions in Ten Hag’s first season, has been especially bad. This season, he only has one league goal and hasn’t had a single shot in his first three games.
“They lose confidence when they miss big chances over and over again, which also gives the other team hope,” Sharpe said. “[Under Ten Hag], they just looked a little lackluster at times.”
In spite of this, Sharpe thinks that Rasmus Hojlund, the Danish star, can be somehow saved. The 21-year-old had a rough start when he first arrived at Manchester United, but he has shown flashes of the talent that made him worth £72 million, and he could make an effect after coming back from an injury that kept him out for the beginning of the season.
They will be better when Rasmus Hojlund comes back. Sharpe kept talking. “He puts the main point in front of them.” However, United can’t count on him to score all the goals they need to win every game.
“We want more players to help out and for the goals to be scored by more people on the team.” Even though it seems clear, United would not be where they are in the table this season if they had scored a goal.
