Hidden reason why the Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has been absent from the squad has finally been revealed and it’s shocking
Left back Tyrell Malacia has been away from the Manchester United first team for a long time and is said to be having mental health problems.
In May of last year, the 24-year-old helped Erik ten Hag’s team beat Fulham 2-1 at Old Trafford. Since then, he hasn’t played for Man United. United’s pre-season tour of the United States was cut short because he couldn’t play for any reason.
This has been going on for the whole season since Luke Shaw got hurt for good at the end of August. No one has been able to explain why. This has made things hard at left back.
Late in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur loaned Sergio Reguilon to help fill the gap. He was brought in on the last day of the transfer window. After only one month, Reguilon got hurt, which made Ten Hag likely wonder if the left back spot was cursed.
The club decided to end Reguilon’s loan in January. They sent him back to London, and he quickly signed with Brentford for another loan until the end of the season.
Ten Hag later said that this choice was made because the club’s medical staff believed that both Shaw and Malacia would be healthy enough to play for the first team again in January. But this guess turned out to be wrong.
Shaw did return. In the fourth round of the FA Cup on January 28, he played against Newport County. It’s been a while since Malacia trained with the first team. Shaw’s continued absence got worse when he hurt his hamstring again in February against Luton. He couldn’t play again until almost the end of the season.
At this point, Ten Hag has had to switch between Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat at left back, which has obviously not worked out well. Reports say the club wants to get a new left back this summer. This means they don’t think Shaw and Malacia will be able to play every game next year.
There’s something wrong with Shaw. The English player is one of the best fullbacks in the Premier League, but he can’t seem to stay fit. When he does play, he’s usually very good. But the team would suffer too much without him if there wasn’t a really good person ready to take his place.
It’s been hard to figure out why Malacia has been gone for such a long time. The ex-Feyenoord player was thought to have jumped at the chances Shaw’s injuries would have given him. He is still not available, even though Ten Hag said in February that he was almost ready to come back.
Christopher Michel of fussball.news has now added to the story by saying that Malacia isn’t just hurt physically and can’t play; he’s also said to be having mental issues.
That’s too bad. This new information explains why the club has been so quiet about the fullback and why his return date keeps getting pushed back. Not as many things can be done to help the guard get better if he is mentally ill as there are when he is hurt physically.
This is why Ten Hag and the club’s medical staff may have thought Malacia would come back at different times, only for things to change.
Michel says that United is “looking for a new back-up left back for the coming season.” This is in line with what The Peoples Person told people at Old Trafford during the summer.
