“He knows his ability” – Chelsea captain defends his under-fire teammate who has huge task today
Reece James has been relatively quiet over the past few months; his season has been yet another agonizingly interrupted start due to injuries.
However, he is aiming to make it three in a row today at Stamford Bridge, and if all goes well, he will return to action immediately.
As captain, he is now able to exhibit a greater degree of vocalization, and in remarks obtained by the Sun, he opted to stand up and defend his teammate Nicolas Jackson today.
James was eager to defend Jackson after he received criticism for his performance on Monday night against a depleted Tottenham, despite scoring a hat-rick:
“I don’t believe he has ever required a pick-me-up.”He is among the most dynamic individuals. He is cognizant of his capabilities and the reason he is a member of Chelsea. There are periods in which you, as a striker, fail to score or squander opportunities.
“All he must do is continue to work diligently.” Having accomplished that, he has received his recompense. I feel joy for him. It is a tremendous confidence booster to complete a hat-trick, particularly against such a formidable opponent.”
We are convinced that Reece is standing up for his teammate, and it is heartening to see him do so. Jackson could potentially reach a pivotal juncture on Monday; if so, today would be an ideal occasion to demonstrate that.
