Due to the injury he got in Sunday’s game against Aston Villa, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has stated he will not be able to play for a few weeks. The 31-year-old looked hurt after defending a set piece in the 0-0 draw, and two United staff members helped him off the field at halftime.

Matthijs de Ligt came on for him in the second half and helped Player of the Match Jonny Evans keep the guests’ fourth clean sheet in seven Premier League games.

Since then, Maguire has given an update on his injury, stating that he will not be able to play again after the October international break.

“I’m upset that I hurt myself over the weekend.” “I’ll be out for a few weeks, but I’ll be stronger when I get back,” the former United leader wrote on Instagram.

The United team said that Maguire hurt his muscle at Villa Park, which was his third league start of the season.

Erik ten Hag and Maguire were both trying to get back into the starting lineup after starting the season as a substitute. This is bad news for them.

The Dutch manager’s first-choice pairing has been De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez. Leny Yoro, who cost £59 million this summer, is waiting in the wings while he heals from a foot injury he got during the summer.

But Maguire’s late goal saved a 3-3 draw in the Europa League match at FC Porto last weekend. He and Evans were brought in for De Ligt and Martinez, who weren’t playing well.

He was sure he would keep his spot in defense when Brentford went to Old Trafford on October 19, but he is now doubtful for that game.

Maguire wasn’t picked by Lee Carsley for England’s future Nations League games against Finland and Greece.

That was true even though the great player had played in the 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in September.

Maguire said he was disappointed and shocked by the rejection, but he understood Carsley’s decision because he wasn’t sure about Maguire’s fitness.

“I ought to say I was a little shocked. “But I agree with his choice, and he told me I’m part of the future, so let’s see what happens in November,” Maguire said.
