Grizzlies Rookie Set to be Out As He’s Runs into Foul Trouble

If you were curious about the number of fouls needed to get ejected from an NBA Summer League game, Jahmai Mashack kindly provided an illustration to illustrate the process.

Time is of the essence.

Without a doubt, Monday night was a smashing success for the Memphis Grizzlies’ rookie from Tennessee, the self-proclaimed “Mr. Irrelevant” who was selected last in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Mashack recorded his 10 fouls in 23 minutes off the bench.

Despite that, he was a plus-6. He scored five points, dished out nine assists, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals and a block.

And don’t forget the 10 fouls.

In a regular season NBA game, six fouls result in disqualification. In college, it’s five.

But the Summer League is about development and growth and often some level of scripted play time. Foul trouble isn’t supposed to be a factor.

But here was Mashack, fouling once every two minutes he was on the court, finding a way to an astounding final tally.
