Coach Tuomas Iisalo of the Memphis Grizzlies has faith in GG Jackson’s abilities. Exactly the kind of promise that made Jackson a sensation as a high school basketball rookie and the best prospect in the state.
So, Jackson recalled that when Iisalo became the head coach of the Grizzlies, the coach approached him and shared an objective. Iisalo became obsessed with the objective after seeing Jackson’s mental struggle last season as he contended with insufficient playing time.
“He informed me last year, when I was frequently preoccupied with my thoughts, that I would be the most diligent in my coaching, as I do not wish to be the individual who in 20 years will reflect, ‘That GG Jackson kid could have been something.'” Jackson stated. “He informs me that he will not allow me to fall, which is why I enjoy rocking out with him so much.”
Iisalo is currently undertaking an action that is not typically taken by NBA coaches. Jackson is one of the athletes who is benefiting from his coaching of the Grizzlies during summer league action.
Jackson has demonstrated exceptional performance in his initial two outings. Jackson is currently averaging 23.5 points and is shooting 57.6% from the field.
GG Jackson’s new mentality
His success is in part due to a renewed mindset. Iisalo has emphasized the 6-foot-9 Jackson attacking the basket more with an aggressive mentality.
As a result, Jackson has been going to the basket with force. There have been fewer floaters and more two-handed power dunks. He’s also put an emphasis on doing more with less by essentially eliminating wasted movement.
