Gary Neville has been stunned by the “madness” that has been reported recently regarding Man City’s Phil Foden

Gary Neville has expressed his disbelief regarding the recent information he has received regarding Phil Foden, the star player of Manchester City.

The 24-year-old scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions during his most recent season with City.

Foden was selected for the current European Championship by England after assisting his team in winning their sixth Premier League trophy in seven years.

Foden, John Stones, and Kyle Walker all played the full 90 minutes in England’s inaugural match against Serbia.

However, Neville, who served as a member of England’s coaching staff from 2012 to 2015, has expressed his surprise at the information he has received regarding Foden subsequent to the Three Lions’ 1-0 victory on Sunday.

Neville expressed his thoughts on Foden in the most recent Overlap newsletter, as he reflected on the victory over Serbia and evaluated England’s subsequent match against Denmark.

He stated, “Phil Foden is the other significant issue.” In all honesty, we could abandon the situation and return home if we begin to query Foden. It is absurd to engage in this discussion.

“Was he brilliant on Sunday?” False. Was there anyone who was exceptionally gifted? Probably not. However, we are unable to question his credibility. Foden commences each encounter. We must devise a method to enable him to participate.

The 24-year-old was deployed as a left winger against Serbia, but was unable to register a chance at goal and only made one critical pass.

This subsequently resulted in individuals such as Jamie O’Hara on talkSPORT advocating for the City icon to be removed from the team.

We believe that the most effective course of action for Southgate is to utilise the six-time Premier League champion in an attacking-midfield position, where the City star scored 13 goals in 15 appearances last season, following Neville’s admission of his confusion regarding the misgivings that others have expressed regarding Foden.
