From Portugal: Two clause teams named tried to sign Rúben Amorim, not Chelsea.

Since it became clear that he would be assuming the role of official head coach at Manchester United, Rúben Amorim has talked to the Portuguese media many times.

As the manager of Sporting CP, he has to do that. It’s a constant battle for him to keep his comments before and after games from being totally taken over by the move to Old Trafford.

At the end of last week, Amorim was asked about his move to Manchester United. He said that two other teams had tried to pay his clause in the past, but he didn’t take those chances, which is why Chelsea has been brought in.

A lot of people agree that West Ham United was one of those teams and that Amorim turned them down, which is why the Hammers ended up hiring Julen Lopetegui. But there have been different claims about the other club.
Chelsea was pushed forward as the second team willing to pay the clause, but A Bola says it was actually A Nassr who copied West Ham’s plan.

It’s not impossible that Chelsea was interested in him in the past, but it’s clear that they’re not one of the two teams Amorim was talking about.
