From Court to Screen: Grizzlies Star Launches Media Empire With Catch 12

Shelby, Tennessee — Superstar Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies is not only breaking into the arena, but also paving the way for his loved ones, a trend that has become increasingly common in today’s media-driven sports world.

The high-flying starlet Ja Morant is no newbie to the limelight; with ‘Catch 12’ media, she is now officially a founder.

‘Uncle Phil’ Phil Morant, who is also the CEO, is there to support. Giving a voice to the voiceless is the Morant’s straightforward aim.

It has always been about giving back, at least from my brother’s and my perspective.

That’s the way Phil Morant and his family were brought up, and it’s also the way they bring up their children.

‘Catch 12’ seeks to celebrate the triumphs and tribulations of others while also shedding light on their backstories, as many were unaware of Ja Morant’s before he became an

international sensation upon joining the NBA. “The time and effort put into getting to a location is often overlooked by the general public. No matter where you’re headed—the arts, athletics, corporate America, etc.—it’s the same.

The path is ignored, I’m claiming. According to Morant, once you enter into the “rat race” and start running on the “hamster wheel,” there’s no turning back.

While the paths we take in life are unique, we all have commonalities along the way.

Director of special projects Trey Draper spoke on the prevalence of stories like Ja Morant’s, where the athlete trained in his garden due to financial constraints and the support of his parents.

Along the way, they’ve released mini-documentaries chronicling their family’s experiences in various mediums, such as the ‘Tee’d Up’ podcast, exclusive interviews, and mini-documentaries following Morant’s AAU basketball program, Twelve Time.

When it comes to family gatherings and the like, some people prefer to keep the information to themselves.

But it’s been therapeutic, since all it takes is a touch or two from someone following behind you, as Morant put it.

Whether you bring a case to Memphis, where there is room, opportunity, and a need, it will be heard.

Meet in the middle, and you can take over one of the world’s leading media conglomerates—and the greatest part is that it’s family owned and black owned,” Draper remarked.
