Former Chelsea 36 years-old player John Obi Mikel makes Mauricio Pochettino sack claim as he is right

Mauricio Pochettino has had trouble getting wins since taking over as Chelsea manager in the summer, but the Stamford Bridge hierarchy still trusts the Argentine.

Mauricio Pochettino would have been fired already if Roman Abramovich was still in charge at Chelsea, says John Obi Mikel.

The Russian millionaire hasn’t been seen at Stamford Bridge in just over 18 months, but he was in charge for 20 years and won a lot of silverware. The new manager, Todd Boehly, is the third stable one in less than two seasons, but he is having trouble repeating the success of the last one.

In the summer, Pochettino was hired because he had won titles at PSG and done well with a young Tottenham team. But the Argentine is having trouble getting this Blues team to play, even though he spent a lot of money on players like Moises Caicedo.

Being in 11th place means that Chelsea will likely not be able to play in the Champions League this season. The recent loss of the Carabao Cup final to a young Liverpool team has put more pressure on Pochettino, and Mikel says he would have been fired under the old management.

“Some of the criticism has been over the top,” he told the Evening Standard. “But we went through the same thing when we played for Chelsea and weren’t winning—getting criticized and seeing managers lose their jobs.” Hey, this is Chelsea. You must succeed. Get prizes and win games.

We did give them time, but they’ve already had enough time to start working together better and playing better. I stand up for the coach and players. Some time needs to be given to them, but how long? Feel free to visit Chelsea FC. Under Roman Abramovich, he would have lost his job.

The new owners should give Pooch time, though. We should check out where we stand at the end of the season. He could have taken a breather after the final, but now we need a run of wins to see where we end up. Following that, the owners will decide what to do.
