The player everyone loves now!

Anthony Gordon thanked Newcastle fans for their support in a classy way after missing a chance in their game against Everton.

Fans met in The Strawberry pub on Saturday before the Magpies’ game against Brighton. Anthony Gordon put money behind the bar to thank them for their support and give them a free drink.

Following his move to Newcastle in January of last year, Gordon took a penalty against his old team Everton at Goodison Park before the international break. However, Jordan Pickford easily saved his weak shot.

The Everton fans made fun of the player they used to cheer for, but the Newcastle fans were much nicer to the number 10 as they settled for a 0-0 draw.

He said after the game, “Great game, but I just couldn’t put them away, and that’s my fault.” Though it’s never easy, I’ll always be willing to step up for my team. Thanks to everyone who came; see you next time.

On October 19, a Newcastle fan account said that Gordon gave the Geordies free beers to thank them for their support.

Eye of the Tyne on X said, “Anthony Gordon did a great thing by putting money behind the bar at The Strawberry so that fans can get free drinks before the game.”

Someone else said, “What a nice thing for @anthonygordon to do today, giving fans money behind the bar at @theberrypub…”

In the bar next to St. James’ Park, fans held up signs that said “Anthony Gordon bought me a pint” and had their pictures taken.

Yesterday, the club revealed that Gordon had signed a new long-term deal, even though there were rumors that he was going to Liverpool.

Eddie Howe, the manager, said, “I’m glad Anthony has committed his future to the club.” During his time at Newcastle United, he has grown as a person and a player, and he has continued to show how good he is across the board.

He has played 73 times for the Magpies since joining them just under two years ago and has scored 15 goals and set up 11 others.
