Fabrizio Romano reveals how Jarrad Branthwaite actually feels about leaving Everton for Manchester United
Yesterday, Everton’s summer erupted in extraordinary fashion, following a rather mundane start to the window.
Whether it was the failure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s transfer to Newcastle United, Everton’s pursuit of Yankuba Minseh, or their late attempts to sign Iliman Ndiaye, all of these events transpired within the course of approximately 30 minutes.
And that is without considering Everton’s second acquisition of the window, the re-signing of Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds United.
Despite the allure of the drama surrounding incoming transfers, it is important to remember that Manchester United continues to desire Jarrad Branthwaite, and he is reportedly prepared to make the move.
Naturally, the primary focus of The United Stand’s official channels was on transfers.
Ultimately, this is the area in which the Italian journalist has established his reputation, and he has been particularly active in the past 24 hours in his coverage of Everton’s most recent activities.
Interestingly, this update aligns with the Toffees’ summer plans, albeit this time it is to convey information that they will not wish to hear about Branthwaite.
The player is eager to join, and Jarrad Branthwaite remains a viable option for #mufc, according to him. Conversations with his agents are currently ongoing.
‘The situation is contingent upon Everton’s budgetary decisions this week, particularly in relation to player sales and budgetary Fair Play. Manchester United is unlikely to meet Everton’s asking price of approximately £65-70 million for Branthwaite.
“The player is anticipating United’s decision, which will be influenced by Everton’s current position.”
Branthwaite would be exceedingly difficult to replace, regardless of the fact that Kevin Thelwell is currently performing exceptionally well in the market.
It is entirely comprehensible that the Red Devils are so enthusiastic about him, as his skillset is entirely distinctive.
He is a formidable 6’5 and is exceedingly well-built for his age. However, he combines this impressive physique with a dynamic speed that renders him an ideal modern-day defender.
And, despite the fact that Sean Dyche’s system somewhat limits his passing range, he still has the opportunity to exhibit his exceptional qualities in possession. He can stride out from the back and use his preferred left foot, which is another selling point, to locate a teammate.
Not to mention that he has recently made his full England debut, the 21-year-old is truly breaking down every barrier in his path. The sky is the limit for him.
Nevertheless, Everton would be extremely fortunate to retain him for an additional season, as they depend on all of these assets, in addition to the somewhat slower James Tarkowski, to establish a flawlessly balanced defence.
Although a substantial sum would be appreciated to increase their financial resources, there is no amount of money that could adequately replace Branthwaite at the back.
