EXCLUSIVE: Piers Morgan unleashes a foul-mouthed rant on Arsenal red, kicks Declan Rice to pieces

Many Arsenal fans were left perplexed and incensed by Declan Rice’s peculiar second yellow card against Brighton. High-profile supporter Morgan ignited the ruckus with an X-rated social media post that criticised the decision.

Piers Morgan has expressed his unhappiness with the “worst red card judgement I’ve ever seen” following the dismissal of Declan Rice for Arsenal in their match against Brighton. He asserts that the midfielder was “kicked to pieces” by Joel Veltman.”

In the second half at the Emirates, Arsenal was reduced to ten men with a score of 1-0. Rice was awarded a peculiar second yellow card, despite Veltman kicking out at him. The Premier League subsequently confirmed that the penalty was for kicking the ball away and delaying the resumption.

Brighton promptly equalised through Joao Pedro, and Arsenal fans were left perplexed by the peculiar circumstances that had resulted in their disadvantage. Morgan, a prominent supporter, was the most vocal in his outrage.

Morgan, in a post on X, shared a video of the incident with the caption, “This is the worst red card decision in football history,” and subsequently added, “What the f*** was that?” Declan Rice was dismissed for being ejected from the game. The red card decision was the most appalling I have ever witnessed.

Rice’s initial yellow card was issued just before the break during another altercation with Veltman. He was justifiably cited for entering the game late on Veltman, a challenge that necessitated verification by the video assistant referee (VAR).

However, his yellow card in the second half will leave fans perplexed, as Rice was booked for what was perceived as time-wasting. Despite the fact that Veltman obviously kicked at the legs of the England star, he avoided a red card.

The on-field decision of Chris Kavanagh is supported by VAR, and deliberate actions to prolong a restart will result in a yellow card for players and members of a team under the new Premier League rules that have come into effect for the 2024/25 season.

“It is still the case that a club’s technical area staff who intentionally delay the restart of play by holding on to the ball, kicking the ball away, or any other means will be dismissed,” according to the Premier League website. A yellow card will be issued to any players who engage in the same behaviour in the technical area.

Ally McCoist, a commentator for TNT Sports, expressed his disbelief in the situation, stating, “I am uncertain as to what Declan Rice is intended to accomplish.” He appeared to be given a kicking in the face. I believe that Joel Veltman is fortunate to remain on the pitch with his kickout.

Rice will be prohibited from participating in Arsenal’s subsequent match following the international break, which is a significant North London Derby against Tottenham on September 15.

The Gunners were unable to overcome the Seagulls, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The red card judgement turned the game on its head, earning them seven points from their first three games. They had previously won the first two against Wolves and Aston Villa.
