EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle are currently pressured by PSR to conclude deal
The Daily Telegraph reports that Newcastle United is under duress to sell Yankuba Minteh before the 30th June deadline as a result of the Premier League’s PSR rules.
The Magpies are currently developing their transfer strategy for the upcoming days and are interested in capitalising on Minteh.
He was rumoured to be on his way to Everton, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin was en route to the opposite team. However, the agreement has since fallen through.
However, there is additional interest in Minteh, and it is probable that he will be sold to a European team.
Minteh has been identified as a potential destination for Lyon, while Marseille is also interested in the winger, who was on loan at Feyenoord in the Eredivisie last season.
Newcastle is also under pressure to ensure that a deal for Minteh is finalised.
Their finances would be bolstered by the potential for a substantial profit on a player they signed only last summer, which would also assist in their PSR calculations.
The 19-year-old was acquired by Newcastle for approximately £6.5 million from the Danish club OB. He further enhanced his reputation during his loan stint at Feyenoord, where he played under the new Liverpool manager, Arne Slot.
Liverpool, which is in search of a wide attacker, has also been associated with Minteh; however, it appears that Liverpool will not pursue a transfer.
