Manchester United earlier this week disclosed their intentions to demonstrate the potential of a new 100,000-seat stadium. Additionally, they have ambitious plans to conduct boxing events in the future.

If they proceed with their plans to construct a new £2 billion stadium, Manchester United intends to snatch the most significant boxing bouts from Wembley.

The Red Devils are anticipated to either construct a state-of-the-art stadium on land adjacent to their current site or redevelop Old Trafford, their home for more than a century. Plans are beginning to take shape.

In an effort to expedite the process, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a partial proprietor, established the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force earlier this year. At the beginning of the week, the club disclosed its vision for a new stadium with a capacity of 100,000 seats and its adjacent areas.

Ratcliffe has previously stated that a new super-stadium has the potential to serve as the “Wembley of the North” for Manchester United. Additionally, there are plans to compete with the national stadium for the hosting of significant boxing events in the future.

According to a recent report from The Mail, United aspires to compete with Wembley in the future by hosting super-fights. The report follows the historic 96,000-person attendance of the Anthony Joshua-Daniel Dubois fight.

Nevertheless, United is confident that they can surpass that record by a significant margin, as their proposed new stadium would be capable of accommodating a boxing crowd of 110,000.

The MEN Arena, which has a capacity of approximately 21,000, has hosted numerous events over the years, despite the fact that Old Trafford has not hosted a significant boxing bout since Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank clashed in 1993.

The same report indicates that United are currently on the brink of demolishing Old Trafford, as opposed to maintaining the stadium as a home for their women’s and academy teams, despite its diminished capacity.

It was previously asserted that United were eager to preserve Old Trafford in its current state if they proceeded with their plans to construct a new residence on adjacent territory. However, this is now improbable as a result of concerns regarding costs.

However, it is acknowledged that the club has the option of constructing a new stadium to accommodate the aforementioned teams. The stadium would have an initial capacity of approximately 15,000, which could be progressively increased over time, rather than focusing on a project to reduce the size of their current home.
