Manchester United are anticipated to be active in the transfer market this summer as they endeavour to bolster Erik ten Hag’s squad. However, they will also be obligated to dispose of players in the upcoming weeks.

Victor Lindelof, the ace of Manchester United, is being pursued by Jose Mourinho, and Erik ten Hag may be amenable to the proposed transaction.

Under Mourinho, the Red Devils defender arrived at Old Trafford in 2017 and has since appeared in over 250 matches for the club. The Swedish international was acquired by United for £31 million from Benfica.

Under Ten Hag, Lindelof’s involvement has been inconsistent, primarily due to injury. Despite being a contender for the starting XI, he missed considerable time last term. However, the club has already determined that a few players are not for sale, provided that the appropriate offer is received.

According to reports, United are considering the acquisition of new central defenders this summer and are amenable to receiving offers for the 29-year-old. Lindelof’s present contract has one year remaining.

The 13-time Premier League champions have already been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. After their initial offer of £34 million plus £8 million in add-ons failed to entice the Toffees’ star, an enhanced offer is anticipated.

Ten Hag has expressed his reluctance to relinquish control of the club’s transfer business to the hierarchy, following his appointment as United’s manager.

During a meeting in Ibiza, the Dutchman was informed that he would not be terminated and was provided with information regarding the club’s policy. The 56-year-old was emphatic that he would maintain a role in identifying potential transfer targets. He had insisted on a clause that would allow him to sign off on transfers during the negotiations with United regarding his potential takeover of Old Trafford in 2022.

Lindelof has previously expressed his admiration for Mourinho. In 2019, he stated to Aftonbladet, “[Mourinho] is, after all, one of the world’s best coaches and he is supposed to have a job at one of the biggest clubs.” He is absent from my football team.

“I am indebted to him greatly for his exceptional coaching and his exceptional character.” He was the one who provided me with the opportunity to participate in all aspects of this.

“I hold him in the highest regard and am grateful for all that he has done for me, from scolding to hugging.” “Even if I did not concur, you held him in high regard at the time due to his exceptional charisma.” He has achieved victory in every aspect. “When he speaks, you pay attention.”
