Exceptional player set to sign for Crystal Palace one year after ignoring Liverpool says Fabrizio Romano
Liverpool have yet to execute any significant transfers during the summer transfer window.
Given that Arne Slot is scheduled to make his official debut with the club on Saturday, the Reds’ lack of activity may not come as much of a surprise.
Anfield is undeniably a hub of activity, as daily transfer rumors continue to circulate. We might not observe any progress, however, until Slot is completely established at the AXA Training Campus.
However, this has not impeded the operations of certain Premier League rivals of Liverpool. The Reds will not tolerate falling behind.
Moreover, following their extraordinary finish to the season, Crystal Palace appear poised to complete a transfer that Liverpool supporters ought to be monitoring.
Last season, as Liverpool attempted to restructure their midfield, they were affiliated with an extensive roster of prospective new signings.
Although some of these appeared more promising than others, Jurgen Klopp ultimately opted to incorporate only four players.
Among those who appeared to be viable alternatives for Liverpool was Daichi Kamada, a midfielder from Japan.
Upon his release from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer, it was rumored that the Liverpool Reds were eager to acquire Kamada for Merseyside.
However, Liverpool’s fortunes improved when Kamada allegedly declined their offer to join AC Milan instead. It was reported that the Reds had reconsidered their offer for the 27-year-old after his transfer to Milan fell through, only to witness him transfer to Lazio.
Interestingly, Kamada was only under contract for one year in Italy. Additionally, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that he is prepared to join Crystal Palace as his contract is about to expire once more.
“Crystal Palace is nearing an agreement to sign free agent Daichi Kamada; soon we go!” On X, Romano composed. “After release clause-related negotiations with Lazio for a new contract broke down, Kamada is nearing a decision to join CPFC.” Oliver Glasner contacted him subsequent to their collaborative tenure at Eintracht.
Liverpool might lament Kamada’s demise.
This appears to be an exceptionally astute acquisition for Crystal Palace. Oliver Glasner has led them to an immense resurgence, and they could pose a significant threat the following season.
From Liverpool’s perspective, they do not need to be overly concerned about that. Their objectives differ from those of Palace.
Despite this, we have the impression that signing Kamada could prove to be an excellent decision.
In 2022, during a match against West Ham, the Japan international was described as “extraordinary” by TNT Sports commentator Lucy Ward due to his elegance, creativity, and laziness.
While Kamada might not have been a starter for Liverpool, he could have been an excellent substitute to provide a unique perspective.
Given FSG’s consistent commitment to maximizing value for money in the market, it may come as a surprise to see them forego this opportunity.
