According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to bring Everton’s 22-year-old star defender Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United.

In the summer, Manchester United spent a lot of money to improve their team of players. The majority of that money was used to improve their backline. One of their main goals, Jarrad Branthwaite, they didn’t get, though. NEW PART-OWNER Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to bring the Everton star to Old Trafford, according to TEAMtalk. They will try again in 2025.

Branthwaite made it into the Everton first team during the 2023–24 season after a good loan spell at PSV Eindhoven. He developed into an important player at the back, and his play drew a lot of attention over the summer.

Even though Manchester United worked hard to get him, things did not go as planned for them. Spurs turned down their first two bids, and their second deal, worth £50 million, was the best. But it wasn’t good enough because Everton kept bringing up their £75 million price tag.

Manchester United still wants to sign Branthwaite.

The Red Devils did sign Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt over the summer, but they are still looking for more defense help. Yoro has been hurt since the beginning, and de Ligt has been getting a lot of bad press. It makes sense for them to want to add Branthwaite to their team since the contracts of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans are coming to an end.

Ratcliffe wants him more than anyone else, and Manchester United is definitely in the running to sign him in 2025. It’s still clear what Everton wants, and the Manchester-based club will have to meet their demands, which have allegedly been raised. Now, the Toffees will only consider letting him leave if they get an offer of around £80 million.

As soon as the Friedkin group finishes taking over, their main goal will be to keep him at the club and build around him. Ratcliffe is expected to still try to sign Branthwaite, though. With no matter what, he wants the 22-year-old Everton back to play at Old Trafford. He has asked his most important player at the club to make that happen. Even though a deal in the winter doesn’t look possible, Manchester United will try to sign him in the summer of 2019.
