Adam Armstrong scored the game-winning goal at St. Mary’s, which was a bad day for Everton. However, Sean Dyche still praised a few of his players after the game.

As of now, the Toffees are 16th, four points ahead of a team in the relegation zone.

Paul Merson thought Southampton would win, and he was right. The only thing he was wrong about was Everton scoring when the Saints played out from the back.

Even though Beto did score, it was called out because he was offside after a VAR check. Mike Dean even said he thought it was onside before the decision was made.

It’s still a loss, though, and it was another poor game.

Sean Dyche did try to find the good things, though, as he praised two of his Everton players after the game against Southampton.

Sean Dyche praised two Everton players for how they played against Southampton.

A few fans were surprised when Iliman Ndiaye was taken off in the 60th minute. It turned out to be a safety measure, so hopefully he’ll be fine going forward.

Not many things stood out about the game, but Sean Dyche thought two players stood out more than the others, and we have to agree with him.

During his news conference after the game, Dyche praised Ashley Young and Idrissa Gana Gueye’s play.

“I have to say that I thought Idrissa did a great job today.” Youngy did a great job. So, two seasoned pros show you why they do what they do.

How Idrissa Gana Gueye and Ashley Young did as a team against Southampton
Idrissa Gana Gueye was named Man of the Match by Everton fans last time out against Fulham, and he had another great game today.

He made one key pass, finished his only long ball, won seven duels, cleared the ball twice, made two tackles, and intercepted a ball. He had 56 touches in his 90 minutes.

Ashley Young was also one of the best players in the last game against Fulham, when he set up Beto’s late goal at Goodison Park.

Also, the right back played the whole game. He touched the ball 43 times, completed 79% of passes, made three key passes, won one duels, made one tackle, and picked off two passes.

Young did some bad things, like giving the ball away too often and not winning enough duels.
