Erling Haaland has kept Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona on red alert with huge demand in new contract

Erling Haaland has the potential to sign an enticing new contract with Manchester City.

After a successful start to the Premier League season, Erling Haaland is reportedly in negotiations for a new contract with Manchester City. However, a specific demand in the negotiations may stimulate the interest of both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The La Liga powers have been open about their desire to eventually bring the Norwegian striker to Spain. They were in the running to obtain him from Borussia Dortmund before Pep Guardiola’s team was able to secure his services.

Upon his arrival in Manchester, he executed a five-year contract, two of which have already expired. There have been persistent rumours that his current contract contains a release clause, comparable to the one that enabled City to acquire Haaland from Dortmund.

It would be prudent for City to eliminate any exit clause that would render them vulnerable to potential offers from Real Madrid or Barcelona. However, Spanish outlet Marca has reported that Haaland desires a release clause to be incorporated into any renewal. The newspaper’s front page featured a photograph of Haaland and the caption, “Renewal and a release clause.”

City are interested in elevating Haaland to the highest-paid member of their squad, surpassing Kevin De Bruyne. However, this may come at a cost, as foreign teams may be granted the option to activate a clause that would prevent his current club from rejecting their offers.

In a potential indication that her client’s future may be at the Bernabeu, Rafaela Pimenta, Haaland’s agent, publicly discussed the allure that players have for joining Real Madrid last year.

She stated, “There is the Premier League and then there is Madrid.” “They possess a unique quality that is also the aspiration of the players.” Madrid maintains this enchantment. They do not have the weekly competitions; however, they do have the Champions League.

Pimenta also stated that Haaland was “the master of his destiny.” Despite the fact that Madrid would have no immediate plans to acquire the 24-year-old after finally securing Kylian Mbappe this summer, it is improbable that they would reject the possibility of purchasing him in the future.

Starting the new season in exceptional form, Haaland scored hat-tricks in consecutive matches against Ipswich and West Ham, following a goal on the opening day of the season against Chelsea.

However, his club form did not translate into success with Norway on Friday, as his team failed to score in a 0-0 draw against Kazakhstan, a dismal opening to their Nations League campaign.

In a poll conducted by Norwegian outlet TV2, he was even awarded a 2/10 rating. However, this score is unlikely to deter the world’s most prominent clubs from monitoring the possibility of Haaland incorporating a release clause into any future City contract.
