England fan who tattooed “England Euro 2024 winners” prior to the Three Lions’ defeat by Spain reveals his stance on the tattoo
Despite the Three Lions’ defeat, a football fan who has an England ‘Euro Winners’ tattoo does not plan to conceal it and expressed that he “still loves” the permanent ink.
Dan Thomas, 29, of Swindon, Wiltshire, was so confident in Gareth Southgate’s team that he underwent a tattoo on his left leg that featured the Henri Delaunay Cup and the phrase “England Euro 2024 Winners” just days prior to the final.
The data consultant has stated that he does not intend to conceal the outcome, despite the devastating result last night, following England’s 2-1 loss to Spain.
Mr. Thomas is optimistic that the Three Lions will emerge victorious at the upcoming tournament in 2028 and intends to modify his tattoo in the next four years.
Mr. Thomas expressed his satisfaction with the tattoo shortly after the final: “We were on the brink of victory; I have no remorse.”
England’s quest for their first major men’s trophy since 1966 continues as they were humiliated by the Spanish team, which scored goals from Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal.
Gareth Southgate’s team has suffered their second consecutive European Championship final humiliation at the hands of Luis de le Fuente’s team.
The 29-year-old remains unfazed by his defeat and aspires to repurpose his tattoo for the 228 Euros tournament.
He stated, “I do not believe it would be difficult to convert the four to an eight in four years.” I will not conceal it. I have absolutely no remorse, and I continue to appreciate it.
Mr. Thomas described the match’s results as “bittersweet” and commended the team for reaching the final.
‘The result was not what we desired, but it was a wonderful achievement to reach yet another final,’ he said bittersweetly after the game.
“I believe that England performed admirably.” I would argue that (Marc) Guehi was the most noteworthy player in the match; however, (Kobbie) Mainoo has been the most significant player throughout the tournament.
He further stated, “It is only a matter of time before we achieve something.”
Mr. Thomas has encouraged other England fans to acquire their own tattoos in order to demonstrate their backing for the Three Lions in advance of the upcoming Euros. He underwent his ink after England’s victory over the Netherlands.
‘I do not typically examine the comments on my tattoo. He stated, “I am not influenced by the opinions of others.”
“I would encourage others to emulate my actions in future tournaments in order to rally behind the team.”
Mr. Thomas contemplated obtaining a comparable tattoo in 2021 when England confronted Italy in the Euro 2020 final, with the expectation that this year’s tattoo would contribute to Southgate’s team’s victory.
After spending two and a half hours at the Reign Barbers and Tattoos parlour in Swindon, the assured England supporter obtained the substantial tattoo of the Henri Delaunay Cup.
The instant he had the artwork tattooed on his leg was livestreamed, and it was viewed by over 42,000 people on TikTok.
Tinashe Chikerema, the tattoo artist who undertook the two-and-a-half-hour project, “triple-checked” with the data consultant to ensure that he wanted it done before proceeding with the permanent inking.
He stated, “I was taken aback by his desire for the tattoo; however, I verified it with him on multiple occasions.” It is commendable of him to show such confidence in the team.
Jack Wilkinson, the proprietor of Reign Barbers and Tattoos, was sceptical of Mr. Thomas’s decision to proceed with the tattoo until the needle actually penetrated the epidermis.
Mr. Wilkinson stated, “Initially, I believed it was a joke. However, he expressed his confidence and desire to be the first to complete the task before others do so after they have won.”
‘It remains a bit surreal that he has actually completed it. It encapsulates Dan’s character. He is quite eccentric and is known for his optimism.
