Dramatic Loss for the Grizzlies As Boston Celtics Stand Tall

On July 11th, in a high-octane Las Vegas Summer League game against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Pavilion, the youthful core of the Boston Celtics stood out.

With a 92-78 victory over the Grizzlies, the Celtics showcased their top-tier, seemingly future-proof squad, which might see some rotational players promoted in the near future.

The Grizzlies’ 14-point deficit was enormous, and they had no chance of regaining the lead.

Boston Celtics’ rising talent steals spotlight with dominant win over Memphis Grizzlies in Summer League clash

The Memphis Grizzlies struggled to find rhythm in their Las Vegas Summer League matchup, falling short against a more cohesive Boston Celtics squad.

Despite a few bright spots in individual performances, the Grizzlies shot just 40.6% from the field and a disappointing 20.7% from beyond the arc, connecting on only 6 of their 29 three-point attempts. They also made just 64% of their free throws (16-of-25), which added to their offensive frustrations in a game they lost by a 14-point margin.

GG Jackson led the Grizzlies with 16 points on an efficient 5-of-10 shooting. Jackson also added 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 29 minutes. Armando Bacot had a solid showing in the frontcourt with 7 field goals on 13 attempts, scoring 14 points and pulling down 6 rebounds. Cam Spencer was another bright spot, adding 15 points, 3 rebounds, and shooting a team-best 50% from three-point range.

Jaylen Wells struggled with his shot, making just 3 of his 10 field goal attempts and going 2-of-7 from deep. However, he hit all five of his free throws and chipped in 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Zyon Pullin and Aaron Estrada also had quiet games, with Pullin scoring 5 points and Estrada adding 8 points off the bench.

The Grizzlies committed 19 turnovers and 27 personal fouls, which stalled any chance of a comeback.

On the other side, the Boston Celtics’ Summer League squad delivered a strong performance in Las Vegas, securing a 92-point outing on balanced team play and energy on the boards.

The team shot 40.5% from the field, connecting on 30 of 74 attempts, and hit 9 of their 28 shots from beyond the arc (32.1%). Though their free-throw shooting was uneven at 69.7%, Boston made up for it with hustle, grabbing 45 rebounds and sharing the ball well with 17 total assists.
