Dominic Calvert-Lewin says he is angry about the new Everton decision surrounding penalties.

Aston Villa star Dominic Calvert-Lewin is angry that he wasn’t given a penalty against Newcastle United.

In response to not getting a penalty kick against Newcastle United, Everton scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin said, “I don’t know what more you have to do to get a penalty.” When Blues’ number nine went down in the area after Dan Burn tackled him, the players were very upset, but referee Craig Pawson didn’t listen to them. Meanwhile, the big screen at Goodison Park showed a message from Stockley Park: “The referee’s call of no penalty for the challenge between Calvert-Lewin and Burn is checked and confirmed by the VAR, deeming Calvert-Lewin kicked the back of Burn’s leg.”

While Simon Hooper pointed to the spot after Lewis Dunk’s challenge, Everton has not been given a penalty yet this season. Calvert-Lewin was also rejected on the first day of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion. After looking at the play-by-play monitor at Goodison Park and hearing from the Premier League Match Center, the referee changed his mind. The referee gave Everton a penalty for a hit by Dunk on Calvert-Lewin. Though Calvert-Lewin’s foot hit Dunk’s foot, the VAR said that the play should be looked at again on the field.

Since Everton didn’t get their first penalty until their 27th Premier League game last season (ironically by Pawson, but after a VAR review because he missed Kurt Zouma’s handball in real time), while every other team got at least one (Chelsea and Arsenal had eight each; Liverpool had seven; Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Newcastle United had five; West Ham United, Luton Town, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa had four; Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Fulham had three; and Fulham had two), the Blues have every reason to be especially upset about this.

Callvert-Lewin told everton, “I think everyone will decide for themselves when they see it again.” I saw it again, and I don’t know what else you need to do to get in trouble.

“He’s in the way, and I’m about to put the ball in the back of the net.” It’s annoying, and as I said, those things should pay off over the course of a season. I didn’t get the one here, but I hope I get the next one.

It was Everton’s first clean sheet in the Premier League this season, and they go into the international break having won three straight games. Calvert-Lewin thinks they have turned a corner. He said, “It was a tough shift, and the guys did a great job.” I think we might be able to get all three points another night.

“If some calls had gone our way—which they didn’t that night—that’s how football works, I think.” It pays off in the end, but all in all, it was a good show. You worked hard for this point. I think we’re much better than we were in the last three games. That’s what I think we showed tonight: the toughness and kindness to stay in the game and keep working together. It seems like we could be a little better with the ball and a little more effective in the final third. That’s what I think the next step is. There is a point and a point to build on. The good news is that we’ve scored points in our last three games. I think we should take a break, heal, and get back to work during the international break. Then we’ll be ready to go again.

In the Premier League so far, Calvert-Lewin has played all seven games for Everton and scored twice. After what he called a “factory reset” with his fitness under Dyche, the 27-year-old played 39 times in all categories last season and still thinks he is in great shape.

I’m pleased with my current situation.Like any center forward, I want to be scoring goals all the time, so that’s what I’m going to do. I feel like I’ve had a good start to the season, though, and I can’t wait to keep building on it.
