Dmitri Berbatov calls the Manchester United duo “embarrassing” and hints at a new player.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been “embarrassing” this season for not getting any goals, according to former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Since moving from Atalanta to Borussia Dortmund last season, Hojlund has been on and off, but he has only scored two goals in ten games since coming back from injury in late September.
Although Zirkzee scored on his first game against Fulham, he hasn’t scored again since then, making for a disappointing start to life at Old Trafford.
Not scoring many goals in ten Premier League games so far is one reason why United’s top management fired Erik ten Hag last Monday.
When Ruben Amorim takes over for the Dutchman after the November international break, he will hope to improve United’s scoring output.
Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon could join Berbatov’s soon-to-be-former boss at Old Trafford, though, to improve United’s attacking choices.
“This Viktor Gyokeres guy is scoring goals for fun right now,” he told Sky Sports.
Because of this, I believe there is a special link between him and the boss, and I believe we will see him play for United.
Berbatov said, “From what he is showing right now, I think yes” when asked if he’d be happy about the deal.
“Right now, our strikers aren’t producing goals.” It’s embarrassing that United is 18th in the league in terms of goals scored so far this season. I’d like to see this role get better.
The amazing Gyokeres, on the other hand, has scored 16 goals in just 10 league games this season. He recently denied rumours that he was about to move to Manchester.
“Are you going to Manchester United with Amorim?” After scoring four goals against Estrela on Thursday, Gyokeres said, “I don’t know.”
“This is me.” My pleasure at Sporting is clear.
“It’s not something I think about much.” It makes me sad that Amorim is going. He has our best wishes.
