Chelsea superstar is “extremely interested” in joining Manchester City, and additional transfer rumors circulate.
Reportedly, Chelsea youth Ian Maatsen is “extremely enthusiastic” about the possibility of joining Manchester City.
Ian Maatsen, a left-back for Chelsea, is “extremely enthusiastic” about the possibility of joining Manchester City.
According to a report by Football Insider, the teenager, who is a member of the Netherlands Under-21 national team, is reportedly seeking more consistent first-team action. Thus far this season, he has appeared in a mere nine contests across all competitions for Chelsea, with no start in the Premier League.
Maatsen, who helped Burnley win the Championship in spectacular fashion after flourishing on loan there last season, returned to Stamford Bridge in an effort to establish himself as a regular fixture in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans. Nevertheless, securing a position in the Argentine’s immediate consideration has proven difficult.
In recent weeks, Maatsen has been associated with a potential transfer to City. Pep Guardiola has limited alternatives at left back, frequently employing Josko Gvardiol or Nathan Ake, although they can also serve as makeshift left backs.
Football Insider sources claim that Maatsen would be interested in joining City, a club that is frequently in search of new talent. Last season, the attack-oriented left-back appeared in 42 games across all competitions for Burnley, contributing to four goals and six assists.
Burnley made an unanticipated attempt to re-sign Maatsen permanently during the summer, but reports indicate that he preferred to remain at Stamford Bridge and compete for his position. Ten first-team appearances are all that the 21-year-old has accumulated for the Londoners.
A ‘Galactico’ budget is rumored to be at the disposal of Real Madrid in order to finance the summer transfers of City striker Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. As stated in a report by the Spanish publication AS, the aforementioned tandem are allegedly the targets of the Spanish giants’ monstrous maneuvers.
As Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires next summer, Real Madrid have been established as the heavy favorites to acquire him on a free transfer. There has been persistent association between them and him in recent years, and it appears that their acquisition of him is an imminent possibility.
Despite the fact that Mbappe will be available for a free transfer the following summer, his weekly salary is likely to be exorbitant, so the total package could easily amount to a transfer fee. However, it has been reported that they will have access to enormous funds, which indicates that they are also monitoring Haaland.
Similar to Mbappe, the City forward has recently been strongly linked with a transfer to Madrid. The Norwegian’s status has been steadily increasing since his summer 2022 transfer from Borussia Dortmund to the Blues.
Haaland has amassed an astounding 69 goals and 13 assists in 71 appearances for City. Already this season in just 18 contests, he has scored 17.
