During the international break, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva hunkered down to issue a statement.

An emotive letter was written by Chelsea star Thiago Silva to his former self as his future with the Blues becomes more uncertain. Since his free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain three years ago, the 39-year-old has stood as a pillar of defense at Stamford Bridge.

After signing an additional one-year extension at the beginning of the current season, Mauricio Pochettino has only eight months to negotiate another extension with the Brazilian international if he wishes for him to remain with Chelsea for the upcoming campaign. Silva, who has become a fan favorite as a result of the numerous defensive ailments in recent years and the veteran defender’s frequent use as a lifeline, is contemplating his long-standing association with the club as he approaches retirement.

Chelsea star sends an emotive "surgery" message following the emergence of a retirement rumor.

Earlier this season, he stated to Sky Italy, “The conclusion of my tenure is drawing near… It is not simple. You must consider where you will spend your retirement, your family, and your final club; for instance, my children play for Chelsea.

“My sole objective is to savor the last year of my contract with Chelsea.” “Without knowing what the coming year will bring, I am extremely content with my career.”

His performances thus far in the Premier League have been exemplary, having appeared in every conceivable minute; he scored his sixth goal for the club and the initial equalizer in last weekend’s dramatic 4-4 draw against Manchester City. Although the star demonstrated he is still a threat from set pieces with a wayward header from an inswinging corner, he may conclude his career outside the Premier League.

After’retiring’ from European football, Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt remains optimistic that the Brazilian could return to his native country and play for an additional year. If he were to return to South America, his childhood team would be his first choice.

Silva, however, appeared sentimental as he reflected on his youth while speaking with Premier League Productions regarding retirement rumors. The video features him offering himself guidance on how to endure the life-threatening illness he faced in 2006, emphasizing the importance of family support, and persevering in his pursuit of silverware.

He began by addressing Thiago: “Hello, my name is Thiago. If I may offer one piece of advice for the day, it would be to abstain from allowing them to come into contact with your lungs or perform the operation. Because undergoing that surgery will invariably render you incapable of competing at the highest level of football.

“Other than that, I would only say to have faith and belief in God is that everything will work out in your favor.” I have faith that you will persevere as you consistently do. It was a six-month stay in Russia. It was a period of extreme adversity in my existence. It was uncertain whether I would be returning to play football.

“I recently had a premonition in which I was uncertain. I relocated to Dynamo Moscow in Russia, where I became gravely ill during the preseason and underwent several testing. Upon receiving confirmation of my tuberculosis diagnosis, which was found to be highly advanced, the decision was made to require me to remain hospitalized for treatment.

“Had the doctors desired to operate on my lungs, I most certainly would not have returned to play football.” It was agreed that my attorney would ensure I departed from the Russian hospital and completed my treatment in Portugal. I remained for an additional three months, attending to my daily treks and medication regimen. When I visited the specialist, he advised me to maintain my composure and assured me that I would soon be able to resume playing football and accomplishing my goal.

“Upon successfully overcoming this challenging phase, you will emerge triumphant. Not only to achieve your lifelong ambition of participating in football, but also to secure every championship you ever desired and envisioned. Despite the advice of your coach to play in the midfield, you will excel as a center-back. Disregard such advice. No midfielder, then!

“By virtue of your proficiency in your chosen field, you shall acquire the moniker ‘The Monster’ rather than your physical attractiveness. This designation will follow you for the duration of your professional life. Individuals will identify you by that name. I’m certain that in the end, you’ll take pride in the fact that when you say “Monster,” people will remember you.

“Thiago, the best piece of counsel I can offer is that you are an individual who strives for his goals and is a dreamer. As an individual who relentlessly pursues his objectives, never alter that! Maintain your progress, and you will achieve professional success.”
