Cole Palmer has been told by Enzo Maresca that being man-marked is a good thing, but he can’t let that affect his game.

During the recent 2-1 loss at Anfield, Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones frustratingly stopped the beautiful Blues player from making any plays.

Maresca thinks that Manchester United will use a similar plan to stop Palmer at Old Trafford, especially since interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy put Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte in the same midfield lineup against Leicester on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

The manager from Italy said, “I’m ready for that, but I’m not sure about Cole!” Cole needs to learn not to get mad when teams mark him one-on-one, because all the best players in the world are marked that way.

“After last season, which was his first season at Chelsea, they probably weren’t too worried about Cole. Because of what he did, everyone is scared this year, so he needs to get used to it. The following move will be tougher, but he can handle it.

But Maresca, who played with Van Nistelrooy at Malaga, is already ahead of the game.

Palmer moved to the left side of the pitch in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Newcastle, which was a smart change in strategy that broke down Eddie Howe’s defensive plan and helped the 22-year-old attacker get back to playing his best.

Palmer’s beautiful pass set up Nicolas Jackson’s first goal, and the former Manchester City talent scored the game-winner in the second half.

In addition, Maresca said, “All we can do is what we did against Newcastle.” Cole is going to be moved a little to give him more time and room.

“The reason he played on the other side that day was because Joelinton would have man-marked him which will happen in so many games.”

Even though Maresca won’t play against new United manager Ruben Amorim, he is sure that the Portuguese coach will be successful at Old Trafford. “The only thing I can say is I’ve watched many Sporting games and know how they play,” he said.

As for his performance at Manchester United, I’m sure he’ll do a great job because of how they protect and attack.

It’s likely that the only hard thing for him will be that it’s a different country.

Coming from Portugal to England is just a matter of getting used to it, but he’s a great boss overall, and he will be great.

A lot of money Signing for £108million While Enzo Fernandez is not popular at Stamford Bridge right now, Maresca also spoke up for him.

“It doesn’t matter how much we paid for them; they don’t have to be the best player,” he said of the World Cup winner. People are people, and we wanted him and paid that much money for him. Not every player can be at their best all the time. He’s not playing, but Enzo is fine.
