Manchester United
Chelsea is keeping an eye on the English player after missing out on a move before, and Manchester United is also in the running.
Reports say that Chelsea is still keeping an eye on Lille player Angel Gomes after having talks with him in the past. Other clubs, like his old team Manchester United, could also be interested in signing him.
The 24-year-old England international has done a great job of getting his career back on track after failing to make it at Manchester United as a young player. He is now a key player for Lille and also does a great job for his country.
As Simon Phillips reports via Substack, Chelsea had the chance to sign Gomes when he first left United, but they were hesitant at the time. Additionally, Gomes himself thought Lille might be a better fit for him.
The story does say that Chelsea is still keeping an eye on Gomes, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise since he’s grown into a player who could definitely make a difference at Stamford Bridge.
Will Angel Gomes move to Chelsea or come back to Manchester United?
Going forward, Gomes may have many choices if he wants to return to the Premier League. According to a recent story from Give Me Sport, United were interested in re-signing him, and Tottenham and Newcastle United are also interested.
No one knows for sure if Gomes will definitely go back to England, but he might be tempted to try to come back and prove some people wrong here after having some problems earlier in his career.
Right now, it seems like Chelsea would be a better choice than United, but to be fair, neither club looks like the powerhouses they used to be.
But this CFC project at least seems to have a clear goal and direction, and things are getting better under current boss Enzo Maresca.
While this is going on, Manchester United is having a tough time under Erik ten Hag. It looks like they will need a new manager soon, but it’s still not clear if the new owners have what it takes to turn the club around.
