Chelsea have made a transfer move for Newcastle’s top player as discussions are being held over a major deal
Alexander Isak has been identified as a potential target for Chelsea in the striker position; however, the Newcastle player’s valuation exceeds £100 million.
In their search for a new striker this summer, Chelsea is reportedly focusing on Alexander Isak, a player from Newcastle United. It is believed that the Blues have prioritised the acquisition of a new No. 9 in order to enhance Enzo Maresca’s attacking capabilities.
Isak has established himself as one of the most captivating strikers in Europe as a result of his remarkable performances with Newcastle. The Sweden international has tallied 35 goals since joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad, with 25 of them coming in his best goalscoring season yet, 2023/24.
Chelsea and Newcastle have engaged in discussions, as the West Londoners have expressed their desire to bring the 24-year-old to Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mail. Arsenal, Arsenal’s London rivals, are reportedly interested in Isak, as Mikel Arteta is eager to fortify his frontline. This information was obtained by football.london.
Nevertheless, Chelsea appears to be advancing with their interest, with rumours that any potential deal for Isak would result in a payment exceeding the club-record £115m fee paid for Moises Caicedo from Brighton in 2023. Newcastle paid £63m for Isak two years ago; however, his market value is at least twice that amount.
Eddie Howe acknowledged that he intended to retain Isak and midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer in response to an increase in interest from other clubs. Nevertheless, the club has previously verified that each athlete has a specific price.
Isak had been rumoured to be expected to remain in Tyneside and secure a new contract at St James’ Park. However, the Daily Mail report indicates that this is not yet the case.
The £5m agreement to sign Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu has sparked Chelsea’s interest in Isak. Maresca remains in search of a proven goalscorer for the upcoming season, as the 18-year-old is expected to be a future acquisition.
Jonathan David, Jhon Duran, and Maximilian Beier have all been associated with a proposal for Samuel Omorodion, who is currently at Atletico Madrid. However, these bids have been rejected as well.
