Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella reveals what it’s like in the club’s dressing room following huge spending spree

Marc Cucurella has acknowledged that Chelsea’s dressing room is “difficult” for players following another summer of relentless expenditure and a number of high-profile departures.

The window saw the arrival of 11 new players, while Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher were permitted to depart. The former joined Arsenal on loan, continuing the personnel turnover under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

Several managers have come and gone, and over a billion pounds has been invested in incomings since the club’s high-profile takeover in May 2022.

Nevertheless, head coach Enzo Maresca is still required to select from a bloated squad this season, and some players have been compelled to train separately from the main group of approximately 28.

Cucurella, who is currently on international duty with Spain, the victors of the Euro 2024 competition, disclosed the challenge of establishing morale amid a perpetual cycle of change and restructuring.

‘It is true that it is challenging, but it is much simpler to create a positive atmosphere here (with Spain),’ the full-back stated to EFE.

IAN HERBERT demonstrates that Chelsea are the most poorly managed club in Britain through a questionable deadline-day transaction.
‘I make an effort at Chelsea, but it is a period of transition during which numerous individuals depart and others join. I endeavour to provide my utmost effort.

The quality of our team was a significant factor in our success at the Euro.

In these tournaments, you are required to remain together for the duration of the day. If we had not formed a rapport, the situation would have been more complex.

‘I endeavour to establish a positive atmosphere in that location; it is part of my nature.’

Cucurella has also requested that the hierarchy exercise patience with Maresca, the fifth coach under the administration, and is of the opinion that maintaining a composed demeanour could guarantee success.

‘I am pleased; our instructor is exceptional; he has very well-defined concepts,’ he continued.

We have a history of frequent coaching changes; therefore, we should determine whether we can achieve stability without a significant number of changes and whether the coach can effectively communicate his ideas.

“We require stability, and we possess high-caliber players. I am optimistic that we will be able to maintain the necessary patience and composure to ensure that everything proceeds smoothly.”

The level is present; however, we require stability and the opportunity to allow the instructors and players to work together to achieve something significant.
