Building the Band: Who Are the Bands That Make It Out of the Booths?

Netflix’s *Building the Band* is changing the reality music competition landscape. Premiering in July 2025, the show focuses on raw vocal talent and genuine musical chemistry by introducing a unique concept: artists form bands without seeing each other first. Contestants sing and select potential bandmates from soundproof booths, removing visual biases and emphasizing the power of sound.

Hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys, the show also features Nicole Scherzinger as a full-time mentor and judge. Midway through the season, additional guidance comes from guest mentors like Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne. This emotional layer adds weight to the series, especially as it becomes one of Payne’s final appearances on television.

The process begins with 45 contestants entering booths to perform solo. Other hopefuls listen from their own booths and can “like” the performances they hear. To move on, a singer needs to receive at least five likes. Once through, they choose their bandmates—still without seeing them—and form groups of three to five members. Ultimately, only six bands can form.

Here are the six bands that made it out of the booths:

1. **SZN4** – Donzell, Aaliyah, Cameron, and Katie bring a balance of pop, R\&B, and soulful vocals. With strong harmonies and stage presence, they quickly stood out. Each member brings unique influences—ranging from Adele and Maroon 5 to Queen and Sade—and that fusion makes them powerful as a unit.

2. **Soulidified** – This all-male group brings swagger and rhythm with an R\&B-pop foundation. Their tight vocals and synchronized dance routines create strong visual and musical performances. Landon, Malik, Shade, and Bradley mesh well, driven by a shared vision of being a next-gen boy band.

3. **3QUENCY** – A girl group featuring Brianna, Nori, and Wennely, known for precision harmonies and a sleek style. They blend individuality with collective power, excelling in their early performance rounds with cool confidence and effortless sync.

4. **Midnight ’Til Morning** – Conor, Mason, Shane, and Zach form a chill yet dynamic all-male band. Their camaraderie was immediate, and their performance of Coldplay’s “Higher Power” sealed their spot. They aim to blend pop-rock with indie vocals and heartfelt delivery.

5. **Siren Society** – Erica, Jenna, Autumn, and Noriella bring powerhouse vocals, stage charisma, and striking harmonies. They see themselves as an answer to the classic girl band—fierce but emotionally rich, smooth but commanding. Their early setlist featured songs from the likes of Jason Derulo and Ariana Grande.

6. **Sweet Seduction** – Formed last and initially overlooked, Alison, Elise, and Haley clicked fast. Their chemistry is strong, especially during stripped-down acoustic sets. The judges noted their natural blend and potential to evolve as a unique trio in a crowded field.

What sets *Building the Band* apart is how the contestants must rely purely on what they hear before forming relationships. Visuals and image come into play only after the bands have been formed, which adds another layer of drama and discovery.

As the series progresses, these bands will face challenges including performance battles, emotional breakdowns, and eliminations. With strong mentoring and emotional stakes high—especially with tributes to Liam Payne—the show is about more than just competition. It’s about connection, growth, and music without judgment.

Whether these six bands have what it takes to survive the long run remains to be seen, but they’ve already proven one thing: true harmony starts from within.
