Ange Postecoglou gave a media briefing before of Tottenham’s encounter with Everton.

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has stated that Dominic Solanke will be out tomorrow due to an ankle injury sustained against Leicester.

The 58-year-old Postecoglou stated: “Dom had a knock in the previous game. He managed to win the game, but afterwards it grew worse. He’s not going to be here tomorrow.”

Afterwards, he said, “It’s an ankle injury. Someone crossed his ankle as soon as he picked it up. He’s out tomorrow for sure; after that, it all depends on how well he recovers. The international break is the next week, but it’s not that serious.”

Spurs have suffered a serious setback ahead of a pivotal game against Everton. On his club debut, Solanke did not score, but his general buildup play was impressive.

The Englishman excelled by dragging defenders in, making space for others, and reliably latching onto crosses into the box, but Richarlison or Dejan Kulusevski will now probably have to step up to fill the vacuum.

Rodrigo Bentancur will also be absent for Tottenham’s encounter against Everton. The Uruguayan midfielder collided with Leicester’s head, forcing him to sit out Saturday’s game in accordance with concussion protocol.

“In the event of a brain injury, we’ll be a little more methodical. He’s recovered quite nicely. After finishing every exam, he is in good health. Postecoglou stated, “We’ll take our time with Rodrigo and make sure he’s 100%.”

Cristian Romero will make his 100th appearance for Tottenham if he plays against Everton. Spurs have assembled a formidable defensive lineup around Micky van de Ven, even if they have only kept three clean sheets in thirty games.

Since they first began training together, Romero, who transferred from Atalanta to Spurs in 2021, has pleased Postecoglou; the Australian expressed his admiration for the player prior to the game.

“Superb. You naturally have an impression of a player from a distance when you see all these kinds of things. He was going to be a huge player for me, I thought before I came here. For club and country, he’s such a terrific centre back,” Postecoglou said.

Observing him in this moment, I can’t believe how strong his mindset is, how he plays and trains, and how successful he is at everything. He has played a major role. He is one of the players on this team who has accomplished things as a team, so going forward, he will be very significant.

“Those kinds of things are transferable, as I have always stated. He’s won the Copa America and the World Cup. It’s wonderful that he will be playing in his 100th game tomorrow, and I believe he has a big influence on the group. Since he is so consistent, I know he will perform at his usual calibre.”

To everyone’s surprise, Wilson Odobert from Burnley signed a contract with Tottenham on Friday. Under the radar, the right winger gives Spurs more alternatives in the closing third.

He was unable to obtain a work permit in time, hence he was unable to attend Spurs’ season opener. However, he is free to play tomorrow. Prior to the game, Postecoglou explained his signing procedure.

He was one that we recognised really early in the summer, and we went through the same kinds of procedures. Wilson was one of the players we identified in our open-minded search for a right winger.

“To finish it, there were a few steps we needed to take. It’s not as simple as stating: “Go get them; that’s who we want.”

It was crucial for us to get Dom in. Wilson was the only target once Dom finished the deal, which took a lot of time to complete. It happened quite fast,” he said.

Subsequently, the former Celtic manager discussed his winger attributes and how he adds something unique to the team.

“I find his wide area play to be incredibly appealing. Compared to our other wingers, he is unique. He can play either centrally or on either side and is a good dribbler who enjoys getting into the final third.

“He’s also made some pretty fantastic progress. Take a look at his path from playing for Paris Saint-Germain to participating in Premier League football before turning 19 years old. He’s a great young guy who checked all the boxes for us. Very pleased to have him.

“I believe that we sign players based on their potential to have an impact, and Wilson is one of the individuals we’ve signed that you’ve already seen, regardless of their age. Archie and Lucas are a year older than him, and they’ve already had an effect.

“We are still in that stage of building a team; I do not want to bring players here who I do not think can meaningfully contribute to what we’re trying to do in the short term.”
