BREAKING: Premier League sides Liverpool and Newcastle transfer target Marc Guehi ready to make crucial career verdict soon
In the summer transfer window, Newcastle United made every effort to secure the player’s signature from Crystal Palace, which was an intriguing period for Marc Guehi.
Although the Magpies continued to submit incrementally higher proposals, the Eagles maintained their stance and ultimately succeeded in retaining their captain for at least another transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s aspiration to acquire the player is therefore evident; however, Liverpool is rumoured to be contemplating a potential acquisition of the England international, perhaps as a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
Marc Guehi is poised to make a significant decision.
Despite their subpar performance in the first three games of the 2024/25 campaign, Palace will have high hopes for more thrilling moments, such as those at the conclusion of the previous season, under the leadership of Oliver Glasner.
Currently, Palace is in 16th place, having lost to Brentford and West Ham, and drawn with Chelsea. However, they have yet to secure a triumph.
Of course, it is still early days, and the residents of South London will be anticipating more favourable circumstances.
This encompasses the retention of Guehi, as Football Insider reports that the club will initiate negotiations to extend his contract in the near future.
The subsequent phase of his career will be determined by his decisions.
If he signs with Palace, potential suitors may still pursue him; however, the Eagles will not be repaid in financial terms, and any new sale price, if it exists, is likely to be prohibitive once more.
In the event that Guehi opts not to sign an additional contract with his current employers, Newcastle and Liverpool would be able to enter the January transfer window in an attempt to secure a bargain, despite the fact that his current contract has 18 months remaining (transfermarkt).
