The Nebraska Cornhuskers have pulled off a major recruiting coup, securing a commitment from elite wide receiver Cortez Mills, the No. 2-rated player at his position in the 2025 class. The four-star Florida standout picked Nebraska over multiple SEC and Big Ten heavyweights, giving head coach Matt Rhule his highest-profile offensive commitment to date.
Mills, whose explosive playmaking ability made him one of the most sought-after receivers in the nation, announced his decision after narrowing down a list that included Miami, Auburn, and Oklahoma. The 6’1″ speedster cited Nebraska’s offensive vision and coaching staff as key factors in his choice.
“I believe in what Coach Rhule is building, and I want to be part of something special,” Mills said. “The way they develop receivers and their plan for me stood out more than anywhere else.”
Recruiting analysts view this as a program-changing pickup for the Huskers. “Landing a talent like Cortez Mills—a guy SEC schools fought hard for—shows Nebraska is becoming a real threat on the trail,” said 247Sports’ director of recruiting.
With Mills now in the fold, Nebraska’s 2025 class gains a potential instant-impact playmaker who could help transform the Huskers’ passing attack. His commitment continues Rhule’s upward recruiting momentum in Lincoln.
