Gage Wood of Arkansas eliminates Murray State with a no-hitter. The fourth day of the Men’s College World Series commenced with a David-and-Goliath matchup, as No. 3 Arkansas emerged victorious over Murray State, an underdog. Gage Wood, the right-hander for the Razorbacks, made history in the process.

In the second half of Monday’s doubleheader, UCLA and LSU engaged in a match that was expected to be more evenly matched. Before the fourth inning was postponed due to inclement weather, the first inning was characterized by an abundance of thunder from both teams. The contest will recommence on Tuesday.
Arkansas 3, Murray State 0 Even though the Razorbacks’ bats were relatively quiet, junior starting pitcher Gage Wood secured the 3-0 Arkansas victory by pitching nine virtually perfect innings. Wood’s performance was electrifying, as he secured the third no-hitter in the history of the MCWS and the first since 1960, preventing Murray State from scoring.
For the first time in his collegiate career, he completed a game and recorded a career-high 19 strikeouts on 119 pitches. Wood pitched seven spotless innings before striking a batter with a pitch in the eighth inning. However, he maintained his composure and recorded five additional strikeouts to lock down the historic no-hitter.
