Tyrell Malacia, a Manchester United teammate, was transported to the hospital for evaluation after an accident involving one of Marcus Rashford’s vehicles and a suspected drunk driver.

In Wilmslow, Cheshire, on July 16, Rashford’s Range Rover was struck by a black Mercedes, as reported by The Sun.

Rashford was in a separate vehicle that was following his Range Rover, which was being operated by an acquaintance. Malacia, a Dutch defender, was seated in the passenger seat of the luxury vehicle.

Malacia and his companion were transported to the hospital for examinations subsequent to the collision.

Doctors granted the duo permission to depart without incurring any severe injuries, which was a relief.

The incident did not directly affect Rashford.

A collision between a blue Range Rover Sport and a black Mercedes C220 AMG Sport was reported to Cheshire Police, who have verified that a 55-year-old woman was apprehended at the scene.

The collision transpired two days prior to Rashford’s six-month suspension for speeding in December 2023.

The day after the incident, Rashford and Malacia resumed their preseason training.

Rashford subsequently embarked on a tour of the United States with United. In contrast, Malacia elected to remain in Manchester in order to engage in a fitness regimen.

Manchester United’s left-back has been sidelined since the conclusion of the 2022/23 season as a result of a severe knee injury.

As he continues his recovery, Malacia was excluded from the pre-season tour of the United States after more than a year of inactivity.

In the interim, Rashford is dedicating himself to the necessary work to ensure that this campaign is significantly more fruitful than the last.

The Red Devils’ eighth-place finish in the Premier League was influenced by the forward’s inconsistent performances, which resulted in only eight goals.

Consequently, he was excluded from England’s Euro 2024 squad, although the Three Lions advanced to the final, where they were defeated by Spain in Berlin.

United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, expressed his confidence in the ability of new assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy to assist in Rashford’s return to his best form prior to the commencement of the new season.

“The reason Ruud is here is evident; he can assist the strikers, but he is more than that,” he stated.

“He can only demonstrate his capabilities with Rashford.” He is capable of accomplishing this feat, as he has already scored numerous goals at a relatively young age. Therefore, I am certain that he will be able to replicate his performance from a few years ago.

The new season’s preparations for Man United commenced a fortnight ago, and they secured a 2-0 victory over Rangers in a friendly earlier this week.

Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool will be their subsequent opponents in the United States. They will then face Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday, August 11.

United’s Premier League curtain-raiser is scheduled for Friday, August 16, against Fulham.

The Red Devils are also welcoming back Harry Maguire, who missed the FA Cup final win and England’s Euro 2024 campaign through injury.

“When I first did the injury, I thought I’d be fit for the FA Cup final,” Maguire told reporters in the United States.

“So, I pushed myself for the final and then I had a setback in the week leading up to the final, which ruled me out of it.

“At that time again, it was no problem, I was going to be fit for the Euros. Then I went away with England and I had another setback, so yeah, it was so frustrating.

“When I look back, I wish I had no chance with all of them, so I could have got my head around it.

“But I thought I was going to play in the cup final or be involved at some stage and I thought 100 per cent I’d be involved at the Euros.

“But it just didn’t happen and maybe I just pushed myself to get back too early but definitely, it was the toughest moment of my career, definitely.”
