BREAKING: Manchester City sign sensational goalkeeper from Premier League side on a two year long deal
Manchester City has acquired custodian Katie Startup from Brighton & Hove Albion on a two-year contract that will expire in the summer of 2026.
On an emergency loan from the Seagulls, the 25-year-old spent the latter half of the previous season at City.
In 2017, Startup commenced her professional career at Charlton Athletic. Three years later, she relocated to Brighton. Following short-term loans to Charlton and Liverpool, she made her professional debut for the club during the 2021-22 season.
Startup expressed her enthusiasm for returning to City, and this time for an extended period.
“I really enjoyed my time here and I felt really welcome, valued and I settled into the team well,” according to her.
Startup’s aptitude was “evident” during her six-week loan period, according to City’s head coach, Gareth Taylor.
He further stated: “She has the right attitude and mindset to develop herself and help us compete for all honours.”
The new campaign will commence on Sunday, September 22, at 12:30 p.m. BST, with City, who were the runners-up to Chelsea in the Women’s Super League last season, travelling to Arsenal.
