BREAKING: Man United present offer to sign Benfica sensation this summer
An offer has been made by Manchester United to acquire the services of Joao Neves, a midfielder of exceptional potential.
This summer, Manchester United requires additional personnel in virtually every position on the field. INEOS must address the squad’s lack of redundancy in certain critical positions.
Joao Neves is one of the names that has been somewhat significantly associated with an Old Trafford switch in the past. The youngster has had another exceptional season with SL Benfica in Portugal, and it may now be time to consider a transition to the top professional divisions.
In Sport’s Tuesday print edition, the claim is reported by Sport Witness. They assert that United has submitted an offer to acquire the incredibly talented 19-year-old.
Be patient, however, as Benfica has immediately rejected the £51m bid. It is possible that the Red Devils were merely experimenting with this offer as an introductory measure.
Neves is safeguarded by a substantial release clause valued at just over £100 million, which is likely the reason why the Portuguese team immediately rejected the offer.
Additionally, the Reds appear to be making progress in their pursuit of the sophisticated midfielder, despite the substantial expense that will be associated with the transaction.
It appears that there is a widespread consensus that Benfica would be amenable to reducing the fee; however, it is reasonable to anticipate that the midfielder would require a minimum of £80 million to be acquired from Portugal this summer. Is United able to allocate that much money to a single player? I am not persuaded.
If the club is able to raise that amount of money, it would be an incredibly surreal transaction.
