Liverpool could be in for a significant double departure, as former manager Graeme Souness has issued a warning that two of their top players may be on their way to Real Madrid.

Graeme Souness, a Liverpool legend, has issued a direct warning to fans regarding the destiny of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the club.

The legendary midfielder conveyed his apprehension regarding the possibility of losing both of his stars to none other than Real Madrid. They are regarded as essential to Liverpool’s success, as van Dijk is currently wearing the captain’s insignia under Arne Slot and Alexander-Arnold continues to impress with his creativity from the backline.

However, a fork in the road is imminent, as both players’ contracts are scheduled to expire in June 2025. This would result in their departure without compensation in nine months, unless they sign new contracts at Anfield.

Souness, who is 71 years old, is adamant that Liverpool cannot afford to lose three of their most talented players this summer: Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah. In an interview with the Three Up Front podcast, he admitted, “Liverpool cannot allow all three of Trent, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk to depart.”

According to the Express, “I could observe Trent at Real Madrid and Van Dijk there as well.” Souness also noted that Van Dijk, despite his age, is a top-tier athlete capable of delivering several more exceptional seasons.

Even when confronted with Madrid’s own Antonio Rudiger, Souness declared, “He is a superior player to the players that Real already have, such as Antonio Rudiger.” He is more of a footballer; he is a superior athlete, both in terms of his agility and his ability to control the ball. I would not even attempt to compare the two.Salah and Van Dijk have publicly mentioned the possibility of leaving Anfield, as Liverpool’s top triumvirate are currently facing a contractual dilemma. Van Dijk, who is 32 years old, refrained from discussing his ongoing contract negotiations following their 2-0 victory over Brentford. However, he did express that he is “extremely composed” regarding the situation.

“I am exceedingly composed.” I am committed to having the most successful season possible,” Van Dijk declared. “I aspire to maintain my status as a significant figure this year.” We will observe whatever transpires in the upcoming year.Salah, who was the subject of a rejected £150m offer from Al-Ittihad last summer and was being pursued by Saudi Arabian clubs, disclosed to Sky Sports after defeating Manchester United 3-0 that the club has not proposed new terms, despite his remarkable 214-goal total over the course of seven years.

“I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and to think positive because as you know it’s my last year in the club,” according to Salah. “I merely wish to relish the experience and refrain from contemplating it.” However, I am confident that I am unrestricted in my ability to participate in football, and we will observe the potential outcomes in the upcoming year.

Alexander-Arnold has refrained from commenting on the matter; however, there are rumours that the 25-year-old may be enticed by a transfer to the current Champions League champions.
