Ivan Toney is eventually set to depart Brentford, having hinted at his desire for a transfer for the majority of the previous year. Thomas Frank has declined to utilise him thus far this season.

The year-long transfer dispute has come to an end with the agreement of Ivan Toney to join Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli.

Brentford will receive a fee of £40 million for the striker, who will ink a four-year contract with his new club. When combined, the fee and his wages will result in a £104 million transaction.

For the majority of the previous year, Toney has been advocating for a departure from the Bees. The Englishman had his sights set on a move to a more prominent Premier League team, such as Manchester United or Arsenal.

However, the 28-year-old, who represented England at Euro 2024 in the summer, was not actively pursued by either club. Toney has been excluded from both of Brentford’s matchday rosters this season by manager Thomas Frank.

Frank acknowledged that Toney’s future was uncertain prior to his team’s loss to Liverpool last Saturday. Despite the fact that Igor Thiago, Toney’s replacement, sustained a severe injury during the preseason, the Bees’ manager acknowledged that the England international was expected to depart the club.

Frank stated, “Ivan trained for the entire week.” “Trained with a positive attitude in all aspects.” He could be involved, or he could not be involved.

“He may be present after August 30, but he may not be present.” In essence, the situation is uncertain. I have consistently maintained that I am exceedingly pleased when he is present, and that I am delighted on his behalf when he is absent. Who knows? Let us observe and determine the outcome.
