BREAKING: Grizzlies Cup Run Begins As Group Stage Lineup Revealed

The NBA Cup will return for its third season this year. Last year, the Grizzlies failed to make it out of their group.

The 2025 Emirates NBA Cup first-round opponent is already known to the Grizzlies.

On Tuesday, July 9, the NBA revealed the Emirates NBA Cup drawing for the third installment.

The NBA announced that, using their regular season records from 2024–25 as a basis, they randomly assigned all 30 clubs to groups of five.

The Grizzlies will compete for first place in West B, but they’ll have tough competition from the league’s best clubs on the way to the second round.

In the West B group, you’ll find the Dallas Mavericks, the 2025 NBA Draft’s top pick Cooper Flagg, the 2023 NBA Cup-winning Los Angeles Lakers, James Harden’s Clippers, and the division foe New Orleans Pelicans. LeBron James and the Lakers are also part of this group.

The Grizzlies’ schedule includes home games against the Mavericks and Lakers as well as away games against the Clippers and Pelicans. In the first round, known as the group stage, only the teams with the greatest records will move on to the knockout stage.

Following a dismal showing at the 2024 NBA Finals (1-3 record and elimination from the group round), the Grizzlies will be looking to get back on track this year. Oct. 31, 2025 is when the NBA Cup starts.
