There is little doubt that Lamine Yamal has the potential to be the deciding factor in Spain’s Euro 2024 final against England on Sunday night. The Barcelona winger, who celebrated his 17th birthday on Saturday, has been in exceptional form in recent weeks and is presently the presumptive winner of the Player of the Tournament award.

Spain and England are expected to play a closely contested match, and it would not be surprising if extra time and/or penalties are necessary. This is particularly true given that the extra 30 minutes have been required in one of Spain’s three quarterfinal matches and two of England’s.

It would be detrimental to Lamine Yamal if additional time were required. The 17-year-old sensation would be required to be substituted by Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente at the conclusion of full time, as per a report in the English media, as reported by CaughtOffside.

In Germany, juveniles (individuals under the age of 18) are prohibited from working after 11:00 p.m. If the Euro 2024 final extends to extra time, it would surpass this deadline, rendering Lamine Yamal ineligible to participate. This would provide England with a substantial advantage. Although no one would be able to make the same impression as the talented teenager, Spain would have the quality to manage.
