BREAKING: Former Manchester United player terminates contract with Saudi club after just one year with the club

Alex Telles has departed Al Nassr by mutual consent, a mere year after he joined the Saudi team from Manchester United.

Last summer, the 31-year-old transferred to the Middle East in a £4million deal, concluding his three-year tenure at Old Trafford.

He was reunited with his former Red Devils colleague Cristiano Ronaldo upon his transfer to the King Saud University Stadium.

The left-back was a consistent fixture for Al Nassr, and they jointly won the Arab Club Champions Cup.

He participated in 38 matches for the Gulf nation team, contributing three goals and five assists.

He had also appeared in both of the club’s inaugural Saudi Pro League matches this season.

However, the Brazilian defender and the club have mutually agreed to separate ways. Al Nassr will receive the Brazilian’s reported £135,000-per-week contract as part of their wage bill.

However, it is remarkable that he was able to accumulate just over £7 million in earnings during his one-year tenure. Telles is now set to embark on a new endeavour.

Al Nassr honoured his contributions by sharing a video montage that showcased the player’s most memorable moments at the club.

A brief statement that accompanied the announcement read: “Al Nassr is pleased to announce that the Brazilian star, Alex Telles, has departed the Club by mutual consent.”

“Thanks for everything, Alex.”

A potential return to Porto has been suggested, and Telles may consider returning to his homeland of Brazil, ten years after departing Gremio for Galatasaray.

Telles arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 for £15 million, following a season in which he scored 13 goals in all competitions for Porto.

He was anticipated to compete with Luke Shaw for a starting position at the Theatre of Dreams; however, the England international exceeded expectations by elevating his performance.

Telles was restricted to a mere nine Premier League appearances as a consequence of Shaw’s exceptional performance.

The 2021/22 campaign was yet another frustrating term for Telles, as he only made 18 top-flight starts.

Subsequently, he participated in 38 matches on loan at Sevilla, beginning with their Europa League final victory over Roma.
